SYMPTOM :
Not enough hot water / Poor performance (For first time installation troubleshoot only)
Component Possible Cause Remedy / Check
a. Collector panel
  1. Partially shaded
  2. Improper Orientation
  3. Improper tilt
  4. Improperly plumbed
  5. Dirty glazing
  6. Leakage
  1. Reduce shading or relocate collector panels
  2. Check direction; South is the best direction. North is not suggested.
  3. Check tilt; set equal to latitude ±15°
  4. Check connection from collector to storage. Joint at storage tank must not be at same level or lower than collector.
  5. Clean collector panel’s surface.
  6. Replace the collector panel
b. Piping
  1. Nighttime thermosiphoning (circulation pump only)
  2. Leakage
  1. Check for pump running at night time. Contact installers.
  2. Tighten leaking spot
c. Storage tank
  1. Insufficient size / over usage
  2. High storage losses
  3. Leakage
  1. Check mixer tap. Possibility of consuming hot water without realising.
  2. Check tank insulation
  3. Replace the storage tank
SYMPTOM :
No hot water in the morning

FAULT :
The pump does not run
Checks (Possible causes) Remedy
a. Supply failure
  1. Switch on the switch
  2. Check Cables and cable connections for defects and loose connection
b. Fuses are blown
  1. Check Cables and cable connection for defects, and replace the fuses
c. Motor protection tripped
  1. Check Cables and cable connection for defects, and replace the fuses
  2. Replace the contacts of the motor-protective circuit breaker, the magnet coil or the entire motor-protective circuit breaker
  3. Check cables and cable connections for defects, and replace the fuses
  4. Repair or replace the motor
  5. Switch off the power supply, and clean or repair the pump
  6. Set the motor-protective circuit breaker according to the rated current of the motor
d. Control-current circuit detective
  1. Repair or replace the control-current circuit
FAULT :
Motor-protective circuit breaker has tripped (trips out immediately when supply is switched on)
Checks (Possible causes) Remedy
a. Fuses are blown
  1. Check Cables and cable connection for defects, and replace the fuses
b. Contacts of the motor-protective circuit breaker or magnet coil defective
  1. Replace the contacts of the motor-protective circuit breaker, the magnet coil or the entire motor-protective circuit breaker
c. Cable connection is loose or faulty
  1. Check cables and cable connections for defects, and replace the fuses
d. Motor winding is defective
  1. Repair or replace the motor
e. The pump mechanically blocked
  1. Switch off the power supply, and clean or repair the pump
f. The setting of the motor-protective circuit breaker is too low
  1. Set the motor-protective circuit breaker according to the rated current of the motor
FAULT :
The motor-protective circuit breaker trips out occasionally
Checks (Possible causes) Remedy
a. The setting of the motor-protective circuit breaker is too low
  1. Set the motor-protective circuit breaker according to the rated current of the motor
b. Periodic supply failure
  1. Check cables and cable connections for defects, and replace the fuses
c. Periodically low voltage
  1. Check cables and cable connections for defects and loose connections
  2. Check that the supply cable of the pump is correctly sized
FAULT :
The pump performance is unstable
Checks (Possible causes) Remedy
a. Pump inlet pressure too low
  1. Check the inlet conditions of the pump
b. Suction pipe is partly blocked by impurities
  1. Remove and clean the suction pipe
c. Leakage in suction pipe
  1. Remove and clean the suction pipe
d. Air in suction pipe or pump
  1. Vent the suction pipe/pump. Check inlet conditions of the pump
FAULT :
The pump runs, but gives no water
Checks (Possible causes) Remedy
a. Pump inlet pressure too low
  1. Check the inlet conditions of the pump
b. The suction pipe is partly clogged by impurities
  1. Remove and clean the suction pipe
c. The foot or non-return valve is stuck in its closed position
  1. Remove and clean, repair or replace the valve
d. Leakage in suction pipe
  1. Remove and repair the suction pipe
e. Air in suction pipe or pump
  1. Vent the suction pipe/pump. Check the inlet conditions of the pump
FAULT :
The pump runs backwards when switched off
Checks (Possible causes) Remedy
a. Leakage in suction pipe
  1. Remove and repair the suction pipe
b. Foot or non-return valve defective
  1. Remove and repair the suction pipe
c. The foot valve is stuck in completely or partly open position
  1. Remove and repair the suction pipe
FAULT :
The pump runs with reduced performance
Checks (Possible causes) Remedy
a. Wrong direction of rotation
  1. Three-phase pumps only: Switch off the power supply with the external circuit breaker, and interchange two phases in the pump terminal box. See also section 8.2 Checking the direction of rotation
b. Pump inlet pressure too low
  1. Check the inlet conditions of the pump
c. The suction pipe is partly clogged by impurities
  1. Remove and clean the suction pipe
d. The foot or non-return valve is stuck in its closed position
  1. Remove and clean, repair or replace the valve
e. Leakage in suction pipe
  1. Remove and repair the suction pipe
FAULT :
The green “Power on” indicator light is off
Checks (Possible causes) Remedy
a. The fuss is electric installation have burnt
  1. Replace the fuses. If the new fuses also burn, check the electric installation
b. The earth leakage circuit breaker or the voltage-operated circuit breaker has tripped out
  1. Cut in the circuit breaker
c. No power supply
  1. Contact the power supply authorities
d. The press control is defective
  1. Repair or replace the PM unit
FAULT :
The green “Pump on” indicator light is on, but the pump does not start
Checks (Possible causes) Remedy
a. The power supply to the pump is disconnected after the Press Control
  1. Check the plug and cable connections, and check if the built-in circuit breaker of the pump is switched off
b. The motor protection of the pump has tripped out due to overload
  1. Check if the motor/pump is blocked
c. The pump is defective
  1. Repair or replace the pump
d. The press control is defective
  1. Repair or replace the press control
FAULT :
Frequent starts / stops
Checks (Possible causes) Remedy
a. Leakage in the pipework
  1. Check and repair the pipework
b. Leaky noon-return valve
  1. Clean or replace the non-return valve
c. A valve close to the PM1 outlet has been closed
  1. Open the valve
FAULT :
The pump does not stop
Checks (Possible causes) Remedy
a. The pump cannot deliver the necessary discharge pressure
  1. Replace the pump
b. A Press control with too high start pressure is installed
  1. Select a Press Control with lower start pressure
c. The Press control is defective
  1. Repair or replace the Press Control
d. The non-return valve is stuck in open position
  1. Clean or replace the non-return valve
FAULT :
The red “Alarm” indicator light is permanently on
Checks (Possible causes) Remedy
a. Dry running. The pump needs water
  1. Check the pipework
b. The power supply to the pump is disconnected after the Press Control
  1. Check the plug and cable connections, and check if the built-in circuit breaker of the pump is switch off
c. The motor protection of the pump has tripped out due to overload
  1. Check if the motor/pump is blocked
d. The pump is defective
  1. Repair or replace the pump
e. The Press Control is defective
  1. Repair or replace the press control
FAULT :
The red “Alarm” indicator light is flashing
Checks (Possible causes) Remedy
a. Cycling. A tap has not been closed entirely after used
  1. Check that all taps have been closed
